2020 Bon Dance Towel Fundraiser

HJM President Masa Nishimori with a 2020 Bon Dance Towel

***UPDATE (9/07/2020)***

Due to an overwhelming response to our fundraiser, we have officially run out of our 2020 Bon Dance towels and they are no longer available. Thank you to everyone for your orders. We truly appreciate your kind donations & ongoing support!

As many of you know, our annual Bon Dance has been a popular event in the community for generations. It is the culmination of the time honored traditions of Obon season that celebrates the return of the spirits of our ancestors and goodwill among us. It is also our only fundraising event held at HJM, which generates the majority of donations we receive for the year.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we had to cancel our Obon festivities this year for the safety of our members, friends, and community. Our 2020 Bon Dance tenuguis (towels) were ordered and printed before a formal decision was made by the Jodo Shu to cancel their Bon Dances across the islands. In an effort to help raise donations for our historic temple, we are offering them for a small donation of $10.00.

If you are interested in getting one, please click on the link below to download the order form and return it back to us along with your donation. Free shipping in the US only.

We have a limited amount so towels will be available on a first come, first served basis. If you want to reserve one ahead of time to ensure availability or have questions, please contact: contact@hamakuajodomission.org

Mahalo for your support!
