Mayor Kiyotaka Fujimoto & Delegates from Yamaguchi-ken Prefecture Visit HJM

We had the honor of hosting Suo-Oshima Town Mayor Kiyotaka Fujimoto, former Mayor Takumi Shiiki, and assistant Yoshihiro Suetake in July 2023.

They attended the inaugural Hawaii-Japan Sister State City Summit at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu and made their way to the Big Island. Rev. Junshin Miyazaki of the Hilo Meishoin coordinated this visit and drove them to our temple.

Photographer Sarah Anderson took some great photos and shared them with us. As you can see from the photos, Mayor Fujimoto has a wonderful, energetic personality and a million-dollar smile! He is also a minister at Sairenji Temple, which is the same temple that our founding minister, Rev. Gakuo Okabe is from, hence the reason for their visit to HJM.
